Fantasy Baseball Playoffs

The regular season is over. Steel took home first, followed by Donny in second, and Independent Joe finishing in the money. The rest of the playoff teams are Single Andy in 4th, Muffin in 5th and Tall Angry Drunk in 6th. Lets preview the first round matchups.

Single Andy (4) vs. Muffin (5): Single Andy was in first for a good portion of the year, now inconsistency and injuries have knocked out his top two starters in Pedro and Beckett. Muffin's pitching has been inconsistent as well, but a return from the DL by Mussina and a trade-deadline acquistion of Clemens could tip the pitching balance in my favor. Offensively, both teams are dealing with injury/health issues from their top offensive players, Ortiz for Single andy, and Hafner for Muffin. I'll give myself the benefit of the doubt, and say a close battle, but a 6-5 or 7-5 victory.

Independent Joe (3) vs. TAD (6): IJ has come on strong in the last few weeks, with big wins over myself and Donny. IJ has pretty strong pitching, and its not a good sign that Carlos Zambrano is already sporting a 36 ERA and 6 WHIP for TAD. I'll give the pitching edge to IJ. Offensively, I'd say they are pretty close. Based on the recent surge by IJ and the fact that he is already 7 for 17, Ill give him the edge. Sorry TAD, I'll give the 7-4 or 8-4 victory to IJ.

The winner of Single Andy v Muffin takes on Steel, while the winner of IJ v TAD takes on Donny. We'll look at round 2 next week.
