State of the Bloggers

Many CTY bloggers and our lone reader gathered at the home of the Commish II this past weekend to drink beer and eat snacks, as well as watch the Cuse suck ass. I hate you Josh Wright.

Here's a summary of what went down:

Double D and the Muffinator think there should be more posts. We're not sure about what, as the only time we come up with anything remotely amusing is when there are no computers anywhere to be seen. I think we should hire a stenographer and have them take notes.

The Sweaty Meatball continues to threaten to move to NYC. Rumour has it he has requested a transfer, which he will subsequently decline when the financial terms can not be agreed upon. I expect this new employer will be highly amused by this charade. Steel has announced his intentions to hold weekly going away parties for as long as necessary in order to give this event its' proper due.

Speaking of Steel, he was putting on a good TAD impersonation for most of the night to everyone's amusement. He watches a lot of TV.

The fantasy baseball winter meetings are next Friday at the joint home of Muffin/Steel. I'm not afraid to tell anyone that will listen that my offense, headlined by Jose Reyes, A-Rod, Andruw Jones, and Miguel Cabrera, will be unstoppable next year. You don't need pitching to win in fantasy baseball.

The over/under on number of Yankees (which includes famous alum such as Gary Sheffield, Jeff Nelson, Bubba Trammell, and Randy Johnson) that Italian Sausage takes in the 07 draft has been set at 5. I'm taking the over, and here's how it will happen, in no particular order:
1. Robinson Cano (keeper, and his selection for pre-season AL MVP)
2. Philip Hughes- 5th round - (preseason selection for AL ROY)
3. Randy Johnson- 2nd round - (preseason selection for NL CY/Manager of the Year)
4. Gary Sheffield -3rd round- (preaseason Hank Aaron Award selection)
5. Tyler Clippard - 12 th round- projects as 9th starter, if MLB ever progresses toward a 9 man rotation. Currently identified as a 'prospect' for the Yankees. (preseason selection for 1st Annual Tim McCarver Award- TBD what that means, but it will likely center around being a douche. )
6. Melky Cabrera- 8th round - promises to be one of the best 4th OFers in baseball this year. A fantasy STEAL in the 8th round!
7. Bernie Williams - 14th round- despite not being on an active roster, he could be a key component of any strong fantasy bench.
8. Larry Bowa- 22nd round- rumours of a Bowa comeback will prompt Sausage to take him late as a potential keeper.

I can't wait for baseball to start. The most difficult aspect of this March, aside from the Cuse being in the NIT, will be the 30 day wait between the draft and opening day.

Cuse Hoops Update

Good news Cuse fans. Devendorf will be playing tonight and the rest of the season per Syracuse.com. Apparently my source was wrong. I am not upset about this one bit, and do not apologize to the one person who may have accidentally read this. GFY.

Syracuse Hoops News

Unsubstantiated sources are reporting that this Wednesday (1/17/07), Syraucse University will announce that Eric Devendorf is academically ineligible.

Has a team ever made the tournament with 8 scholarship players active? (06 Cincinatti is the only team I can think of that was so shorthanded- and they missed the tournament).
The outlook is not good. Hopefully, they've got a walkon guard that can play Big East minutes, otherwise, it could be a very long season.

Maybe this information is inaccurate- hopefully.

New Year's Resolution

...I will not play power hour in 2007. For some reason, a drinking game I have not taken part in since high school, I have played 3 times in the last 3 weeks. The results? Vomiting at 12 minutes, 45 minutes and 58 minutes. The final vomiting was at the end of a power hour that began at 11 pm on new years eve, and was to end at midnight with a champagne shot. However, much to the dismay of our fans, and the muffin wife, I rang in the new year vomiting into the vice presidental suite (editors note: the VP suite was great success and hopefully will become as much a tradition as Pasta's alleged move to NYC).

Also, how is Matt Millen not fired yet? Thats basically the same as me killing 90% of my patients, but getting a pass because 'that one 80-year old woman kind of recovered a little bit from her hip surgery'.

GFY Matt Millen, go draft another F-ing wide receiver.

Happy New Year!

The previous post...

was not funny. I realize this, however, since I have not posted in years, I felt compelled to say something. I think I'm still hungover from New Years.

Also, I forgot to say GFY Brett Favre, the Yankees, Terrell Owens, Ed Werner (ESPN), and Pedro Gomez (ESPN/BBDS-er). The Pedro Gomez GFY also contains an implicit Barry Bonds GFY, which may help you figure out what DS-er means. It shouldn't be hard.

The Tradition(s) Continue(s)

Happy New Years from CTY to the five other people that read this. If I had to guess what our population of readers are, it would be as follows:

CTY Posters- 5
Other - 4

I wanted to share with everyone two of my favorite ongoing annual events, aside from the Broncos shitting the bed down the stretch each year and missing the playoffs.

1. Brett Favre's annual debate of "Should I return next year to throw another 25 interceptions and delay the rebuilding of a once-proud franchise one more year?" Of which of course the answer is 'Yes, but I will wait as long as possible to announce that I will do so, while forcing Sportscenter producers to choose between me and the Yankees to lead off every single telecast.' (Sometimes when Terrell Owens does something, it causes fistfights in the production office to determine how much time Ed Werner should devote to each topic. Someone call Pedro Gomez!!)

I know one thing for certain, each night that I leave work I often stand outside in the cold talking to strangers about how much I will miss work until I return the next day. I think it endears me to my fans. It brings tears to my eyes too, Brett! We should hang out!

2. Spaghetti-O's annual flirtation with a job in New York City. The ceremonial Chef Boyardee interview is an event that has already passed Kwanzaa as the third most popular year end festival, after Christmas and Chanukah. We have yet to find a transcript or video of this event on YouTube, but here's hoping 2007 brings another chance to memorialize this awesome event.
